DEVELOPING THE PLUMM RANGE

Love, blood, sweat and tears. We've poured plenty of each into the development and production of the Plumm range of crystal wine glasses.

When we embarked on our journey to create the Plumm brand we sought opinion from a select group of world experts including leading winemakers, sommeliers, wine judges and wine writers. It was their job to sniff, swirl, slurp, argue and inspire, and needless to say, without their help we would never have created the glasses we have.

LEADING WINE MINDS

In our quest for knowledge, feedback and advice on what makes the perfect wine glass, we held extensive tastings and discussions with some of the world's leading wine minds including Louis Jadot in Burgundy, Louis Roederer in Champagne and Domaines Schlumbereger in Alsace. We also sought input from sommeliers and industry professionals from across the Margaret River, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Mornington Peninsula, Marlborough, Martinborough and Hawkes Bay regions of Australia and New Zealand.

18 MONTHS OF EXHAUSTIVE TESTING

Testing was done following the Australian Show Judging System for scoring, with each wine glass given a score out of 20. A large number of shapes of glassware were tested blind, with tastings focusing on the wines for which each winemaker and industry professional was most renowned or had a particular passion for.

BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD

Based on the feedback received and the test results, we produced technical drawings and then manufactured sample glasses that were then subjected to further testing. A final round of subtle changes were made to perfect the shapes before producing the finished European crystal wine glasses that now proudly bear the Plumm name.

ASTOUNDING RESULTS

From this extensive testing and research we concluded that there were two distinctive glass shapes, for both red and white wine, that noticeably improved the wine drinking experience. We simply named these glasses REDa, REDb, WHITEa and WHITEb, in addition to a glass designed specifically for Sparkling wine.

Our findings were conclusive - five glasses are all you need.

Just as listening to music requires the right acoustics, great wine needs the right wine glass to showcase everything it has to offer.
