ONE PENNY RED
In a heritage listed 1900 building that once housed the Summer Hill Post Office you’ll find One Penny Red; a sophisticated eatery in Sydney’s inner west. The light airy space has made its mark on the dining scene and won the hearts of locals with contemporary seasonal dishes from Chef RJ Lines and a cracking wine list.
Sommelier and co-owner David Murphy has created a thoughtful selection to ensure there is something to suit everyone’s palate. The highly awarded list features wines from Australia, and around the world with a focus on growers who make wine with integrity and respect for the land and some very hip choices sold by both the glass and the carafe
The restaurant and bar is split over two levels, each space with something slightly different to offer. The ground floor dining room with its high ceilings and long brushed metal bar is both elegant and warm, whilst the verandah is perfect for brunch on the weekends or an early dinner. Upstairs the bar, Vernon’s, offers ‘quick nibbles’ and ‘small bites’ like lamb-panadas alongside an extensive gin and tonic menu, delicious cocktails, and a fabulous balcony on which to sip and dine.
